Firewood

  • To make firewood, first you need a chopping block. Place any log into your crafting grid with any axe to create a chopping block of that wood type.
  • Place the chopping block, then right-click a log onto it. Hold your axe and hold down right-click to chop the log. New logs will automatically be placed onto the chopping block as you split them into half-logs. Each log, coincidentally, creates two halves.
  • Place the half-logs onto the chopping block and chop them into firewood. Each half-log will create 4 firewood.
  • Firewood can be stacked to dry. This takes a while, but dry firewood burns hotter and longer than wet, freshly cut firewood. It also makes more charcoal.
    • To dry firewood, stack it up and let it sit. Drying is temperature, wind, and rain dependent. Being rained on will actually re-wet the firewood. 30c is the "normal" drying speed, 60c will dry twice as fast. Full wind will increase drying speed 1.5x. Being in an enclosed room gives an insulation bonus and speeds up drying time. Being near a campfire will also increase drying speed.
    • See Drying Speed Overhaul mod page for more information.
  • Firewood species matters as well. Hardwoods burn hotter and longer than softwoods.
Wood Wet Temp Wet Burn Hours Dry Temp Dry Burn Hours
Kapok 300℃ 0.12 hour 600℃ 0.23 hour

Sticks

  • Sticks can be made by chopping firewood on the chopping block. Each piece of firewood chops into two sticks.
